Twenty years ago, a dream took root in the hearts of a dedicated group of brothers at the Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services (TIC). They envisioned a beacon of Islamic knowledge and spirit in downtown Toronto. They yearned for a dedicated space to share their faith and serve the community. The Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services started small, fueled by passion and limited resources. In 2010, the dream took a more tangible form. With community support, the Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services secured a 2,000-square-foot unit. This marked the beginning of TIC’s physical presence, a place where the community could gather and connect. The Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services quickly became a hub for those seeking a new way of life. Many found solace and guidance in Islam. The community flourished, and with growth came the need for more space. For nine years, TIC thrived in its initial location. However, in 2019, they faced a challenge. The landlord decided not to renew their lease, forcing the community to search for a new home. Undeterred, the community rallied together. In April 2019, the Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services moved to its current location at 817 Yonge Street. This 9,030-square-foot building stands as a testament to the community’s resilience and dedication. The Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services has a clear mission. They aim to provide a space for religious services, educational workshops, and community programs. They also want to be a place of learning with a prayer hall, library, and educational institute. The Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services serves a diverse Muslim community. They provide a wide range of services. They offer resources for those interested in learning about Islam, including trained individuals to answer questions. They also have books, brochures, and Quran translations available. The Toronto Islamic Centre & Community Services continues to grow and evolve.
