In 1975, a seed of faith was planted. The Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) began its journey. Reverend John Kao, sent from Hong Kong, established this church. It served as a spiritual home for Chinese immigrants in Toronto. The church initially thrived in Scarborough at Birchmount and Sheppard. Later, in 2001, under the leadership of Reverend Harding Ng, the TCCC moved to its current location at 100 Acadia Avenue in Markham. This area is a convergence of Markham, Scarborough, and North York communities. The Toronto Christian Community Church isn’t just a building. It’s a vibrant community of over 1,000 people. It embraces Cantonese, English, and Mandarin speakers. Initially known as the Toronto Chinese Community Church, the TCCC evolved. It broadened its reach beyond its Chinese roots. Today, the English congregation welcomes everyone who feels comfortable in that language. The Toronto Christian Community Church also has a rich history of service. It’s the first of twelve churches under the Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministries (ACEM). The church also established the 105 Gibson Centre on Gibson Drive in Markham. This center aims to serve the local community and share the compassion and hope of Jesus. Toronto Christian Community Church continues to grow and adapt. It’s a testament to the enduring power of faith and community. It serves as a beacon of hope and welcome for all who enter its doors.
