The Bureau of Port and Harbour commissioned its construction. It was built largely from steel-reinforced concrete. Only the roof uses a unique steel pipe space-truss design. Kozo Keikaku Engineering handled the structural design. This complex housed several Japanese swimming championships.
Think about the countless hours of training. The dedication of athletes. The sweat and tears shed within these walls. Kosuke Kitajima also achieved a world record here. His 200m breaststroke time remains legendary. Yuko Nakanishi’s short course 200m butterfly record adds to the center’s impressive history.
