“Less than 1% of Tokyo’s 14 million people are Christian.” This fact propelled the start of Tokyo Christ Grace Church. It began in March 2009 as an independent church. The founders felt a call to plant an evangelical Christ-centered church. They aimed to be a beacon of faith in the heart of Tokyo.

Tokyo Christ Grace Church strives to be a faith community. It firmly bases its teachings on the Bible. The church focuses on the covenant of grace through Jesus Christ.

The church community aims for growth. It encourages every member to become a Christian filled with grace. Members should seek truth and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Tokyo Christ Grace Church embraces diversity. It is a cross-cultural family, overcoming cultural differences. It transcends social and national boundaries through fellowship.

Sharing the Gospel is central to Tokyo Christ Grace Church. Members passionately share the Gospel of Christ in Tokyo, Japan, and the world. They aim to make disciples in every aspect of life.

The church believes the Bible is the Word of God. It leads people to salvation through Jesus Christ. Only God can change hearts. Only God can forgive sins. He saves people from eternal punishment, giving them faith. The Bible is central to everything they do at Tokyo Christ Grace Church.

Tokyo Christ Grace Church confesses the historic Christian faith. It proclaims the life-transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ. The church embraces key documents of faith. These include the Apostles Creed. This early statement of Christian belief is used for liturgical purposes. It is also used for catechetical purposes.

The Lausanne Covenant is significant. It is one of the most important documents in modern church history. The covenant was written at the First International Congress on World Evangelization in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Westminster Confession of Faith Shorter Catechism also guides them. Completed in 1647, it serves as a doctrinal standard. Many Protestant churches still use it.

Rev. Ken and Mrs. Mariko Ogawa lead Tokyo Christ Grace Church. They served as missionaries in Africa for almost 10 years.

Pastor Ken was born into a missionary family. He lived in different countries as a child. He made a serious confession of faith at a young age. He realized the truth of the Gospel in his life.

God called him to cross-cultural work. He suffered difficulties but found strength in the Scriptures. After seminary, he and Mariko went to Africa. They returned to serve at Tokyo Christ Grace Church.

Rev. Dr. Joshua K. and Eunice H. Ogawa also contribute. They served in Indonesia and Singapore. Joshua was the founding Dean of the Asian Cross-Cultural Training Institute. They started Tokyo Christ Grace Church after retiring. Their children serve as missionaries in Africa.
