From 1982 to 1996, this area served as a landfill. It processed 939300m\u00b2 of waste. This supported the lives of citizens. It also helped the environment. The park was developed from this former landfill site.
Even after the landfill closed in 1996, stabilization continues. The landfill team monitors water and gas seepage. The use of fire is prohibited due to gas generation.
Now, let’s talk about the star attraction. “Planet Park” is Japan’s largest all-concrete skate park. It caters to skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX riders. The park suits all skill levels. Beginners and advanced skaters will all enjoy it. It features varied terrain. There are flat and uneven surfaces. You will also find banks, rails, and bowl-shaped sections.
The skate park arose from government and citizen collaboration. Enthusiasts brainstormed to create an appealing park. It became a place for young people. The name “Planet Park” reflects this collaborative spirit. It combines “planning” and “network”.
Other facilities include Harappa Square. This spacious lawn is perfect for family fun. Visitors can enjoy ball games or relax. Climb Garden has bouldering and tree climbing. A 1.5km path surrounds the garden. It is ideal for jogging or walking.
The soccer/rugby field has artificial turf and seating. There are also six tennis courts with artificial turf. These facilities require reservations.
