The year is 1052. Picture a young prince, Břetislav I, standing right here in Tišice. He’s making a decision that will echo through the ages. He decides to donate his princely estate, including the village of Kozly, which would later become part of Tišice. This generous act was meant to benefit the Stara Boleslav chapter, a religious community Břetislav himself founded. Tišice, as we know it today, didn’t truly exist until much later. It was formed in 1960 by the merging of three historic villages: Tišice, Chrást, and the aforementioned Kozly. Each village brought its own unique flavor to the mix. Take Kozly, for example. First mentioned in 1052, it boasts the stunning Church of All Saints. Originally built in 1352, this early Gothic church underwent a dramatic transformation in 1822. It was then that it acquired its Baroque features, including a newly constructed tower. Today, this church stands as a testament to Tišice’s rich and layered past.
