“Tin Tsz Wan, a residential area in Kowloon Hong Kong” doesn’t quite capture the essence of this place. Tsz Wan Shan is a residential area below Temple Hill. It is part of Wong Tai Sin District. But Tsz Wan Shan usually refers to the area.

Tsz Wan Shan is densely populated. It has several large public housing estates. The old Tsz Wan Shan housing blocks were demolished between the late 1980s and mid 1990s.

Po Kong Village Road Park is a notable feature. It is located at 140 Po Kong Village Road. The park includes an elevated cycling track. This track is about 1 kilometer long. There is also a cycling area and skater park. Three vertical ramps accommodate extreme sports. Freestyle BMX, skateboarding and aggressive inline skating are popular here.

In the north, a steep path leads to a Kwun Yam temple. The path goes to Temple Hill. It joins the MacLehose Trail and the Wilson Trail. These trails reach across the New Territories.

The first school village in Hong Kong was established here in 2002. It is located at Po Kong Village Road in Tsz Wan Shan. It is the only school village in Hong Kong. There are five schools here. These include International Christian Quality Music Secondary and Primary School. Other schools are Tsz Wan Shan Catholic Primary School and Po Leung Kuk Grandmont Primary School. St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School and Po Leung Kuk Celine Ho Yam Tong College are also here.

Tsz Wan Shan is in Primary One Admission School Net 45. This school net includes multiple aided schools. These schools are operated independently. However, they are funded with government money. There are no government primary schools in this net.

You can reach Tsz Wan Shan by bus. Bus numbers 2F, 3B, 3C, 3D, 5C, 15A and 116 serve this area. There are also specific time services. These are for buses 3X, 5P, 5X, 302 and 302A. You can also take A23, E23 and E23A.

Minibuses are another option. Scheduled services include numbers 18M, 19, 19M, 19S, 20, 37A, 37M and 73. Number 66S operates as a night service only. Red Public Light Buses are also available. These run from Mong Kok, Tsuen Wan and Jordan Road. Specific time services run from Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, North Point and Castle Peak Road, Kowloon.

Due to the mountain’s height and steepness, there are no railway connections here. In February 2008, Eva Cheng discussed this issue. She was then the Secretary for Transport and Housing. She said the terrain made it difficult to build a station. This was despite requests from the Wong Tai Sin District Council.
