“Did you spot it?” I ask pointing towards that tower. That is the Tin Fu Tsai Fire Lookout. It stands tall on Tin Fu Tsai Shan. The Tin Fu Tsai Fire Lookout is at a height of 461 meters.
Let’s step back in time. Imagine this area 300 years ago. The Choi clan founded Tin Fu Tsai Village. At its peak, the village had several hundred residents. Tin Fu Tsai was a large and influential village in the Pat Heung area. Some indigenous villagers still live there today.
Now, picture villagers using the Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail. This trail passes through Tin Fu Tsai. The Tin Fu Tsai Fire Lookout was a resting point for commuters. It was a place to pause during long journeys.
The Tin Fu Tsai Fire Lookout is near the MacLehose Trail Stage 9. Hikers often visit the lookout. From here, they can enjoy the views.
The Tin Fu Tsai Fire Lookout itself cannot be accessed. However, the views from around it are worth the visit.
The Tin Fu Tsai Fire Lookout area has a campsite. It’s in Tai Lam Country Park. This campsite is next to Tin Fu Tsai Village. The area was once a Forest Station. It was used for afforestation schemes.
A wooden bridge crosses a tranquil stream. This bridge is near the Tin Fu Tsai Campsite. The campsite is a pleasant environment.
Near Tin Fu Tsai, there are reservoirs. Ho Pui Reservoir is the smallest reservoir. It irrigates agricultural lands in the New Territories. Tai Lam Chung Reservoir was formed by drowning the Tai Lam Chung valley.
