Feel the warmth. Picture yourself stepping into Therme Wien. This isn’t just any spa. It’s a journey. A journey through time and relaxation.

Therme Wien opened in autumn 2010. It’s one of Europe’s most modern urban thermal spas. Located in Vienna’s 10th district Oberlaa it’s a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It’s easily accessible by Vienna’s U1 subway line. Escape the city bustle for hours or a whole day. Pamper your body and mind.

But Therme Wien’s story goes deeper than its modern facade. It’s built on a legacy. A legacy of healing waters. In 1934 a hot sulfur spring was discovered during an oil exploration. The discovery was initially ignored. The borehole was sealed. Years later in 1968 the city of Vienna reignited interest. The Kurbetrieb Heilquelle Oberlaa GmbH was founded. A temporary spa opened in 1969 offering hundreds of treatments daily.

In 2009 a second spring was found 900 meters below the surface. This discovery fueled the creation of the Therme Wien we know today. This massive complex spans 75000 square meters. It boasts nearly 4000 square meters of pool space. There’s a 3000 square meter sauna area too. A health center occupies a further 6000 square meters. A 1000 square meter fitness area completes the picture. Three to three and a half thousand people visit daily. Over one million guests visited in January 2012.

Therme Wien is more than just pools and saunas. There are water slides. There is a family restaurant. There’s a sports pool for lap swimming. There’s even Austria’s first spa library. For ultimate relaxation enjoy massages and beauty treatments. Wellness packages cater to every need. The architecture is modern and bright. Large glass surfaces offer views of nature. In warmer months sunbathe on spacious lawns. Enjoy the thermal water in the open air.

Therme Wien. It’s a testament to innovation and relaxation built on a foundation of healing waters and history. So take a deep breath. Feel the warmth. Let Therme Wien rejuvenate you.
