In the vibrant heart of Stuttgart, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart pulsates with creative energy. The Theaterhaus Stuttgart isn’t just a building. Over 300,000 visitors experience nearly 1,000 events annually, making Theaterhaus Stuttgart the most visited venue of its kind in Germany. Imagine stepping into a space that was once a humble glass factory in Stuttgart-Wangen. That’s where the story of Theaterhaus Stuttgart began in 1984. Founders Werner and Gudrun Schretzmeier, along with Peter Grohmann, envisioned a cultural haven. A place where diverse artistic expressions could flourish. Their dream took root, and on March 29, 1985, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart opened its doors. The demand for their unique blend of performances quickly outgrew the original space. In 2003, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart found a new home in the historic Rheinstahlhallen near Pragsattel. These halls, once used to distribute sheet metal and construction steel, were transformed into a sprawling cultural center. Today, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart boasts four performance halls, rehearsal spaces, workshops, a restaurant, offices, and a two-story foyer, all within a 12,500 square meter area. The Theaterhaus Stuttgart is home to two resident ensembles: Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart and the Internationales Theaterhaus Schauspielensemble. In addition to their captivating performances, the venue hosts a diverse range of guest artists, spanning comedy, cabaret, literature, music, and more. The Theaterhaus Stuttgart also embraces its history. The original Rheinstahlhallen building, designed by architect Emil Fahrenkamp in 1923, has been preserved as a cultural monument. From its industrial past to its vibrant present, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart stands as a testament to the power of transformation and the enduring spirit of creativity.
