Opened in 2017, The Gundam Base Tokyo is a haven for Gunpla fans. It is located in DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba. But did you know it replaced a previous Gundam statue?

The Gundam Base Tokyo is not just a store. It is a comprehensive Gunpla facility. It offers about 1500 Gunpla and related products. This makes it a paradise for Gundam enthusiasts worldwide.

Before The Gundam Base Tokyo, the location housed the RG 1/1 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. GFT. This was until 2017. The Festival Plaza, where the statue stands, still hosts various events. The Life-sized Unicorn Gundam Statue is close by.

Inside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, you can find two Gundam-related stores. The Gundam Base Tokyo is on the 7th floor. The Gundam Base Tokyo Annex is at the foot of the Life-sized Unicorn Gundam Statue.

The Annex opened in December 2023. It offers Gundam souvenirs for tourists. Its lineup differs from the main Gundam Base.

Currently, The Gundam Base Tokyo hosts special events. These include the SEED SERIES WORLD exhibition. It commemorates the release of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. Helmets of the BB Senshi are also on display. This commemorates the release of SDW HEROES Musha Gundam The 78th and Onmitsu Gundam Aerial.

Getting here is easy. The closest stations are Tokyo Teleport and Daiba. You can see the Unicorn Gundam Statue from Yurikamome’s Tokyo International Cruise Terminal station. But walking from there is a detour.

The Life-sized Unicorn Gundam Statue transforms. It shifts from Unicorn Mode to Destroy Mode. This happens several times during the day. In the evening, enjoy a performance with Wall-G. It uses the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza wall.

The Gundam Base Tokyo also has a YouTube channel. It features live streams called “THE GUNDAM BASE LIVE”. These streams include Gunpla building techniques. They share the latest Gunpla information.

Kawaguchi Meijin shares Gunpla building techniques. He also answers questions from viewers. Gunpla Concierge Maki introduces new Gunpla.
