Founded in 1970, The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College stands as a testament to a rich legacy. The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College isn’t just a school. It’s a continuation of a story that began in 1911 in Guangzhou with a kindergarten founded by Mrs. Lear Bigelow. Imagine a small schoolroom, filled with the energy of young children learning and growing. That seed, planted over a century ago, eventually blossomed into the institution we see today. The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College initially operated from a temporary campus at Heep Woh Primary School on Prince Edward Road. In 1971, the current campus in Tsz Wan Shan officially opened its doors. The college began with just twelve classes, six each in forms one and two. Over the years, The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College has seen significant growth. By 1974, the number of classes had nearly quadrupled to twenty-two. The college’s motto, “When you know the truth, the truth will set you free,” reflects its commitment to education and enlightenment. The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College has also witnessed important milestones. In 2004, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mr. Tung Chee Hwa, visited the college, observing classes and engaging in discussions with student leaders. The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2010 with a grand reunion dinner attended by over 1200 alumni and friends. In 2013, a graduate achieved a remarkable feat, scoring the highest possible marks in seven subjects. The same year, The Church of Christ in China Heep Woh College achieved another distinction, becoming the first school in Asia to win the Hong Kong MAKE Award. This award recognizes innovation and knowledge culture, further solidifying the college’s reputation for academic excellence.
