How about a camping trip where wallabies are your neighbors? Welcome to The Basin Campground. It is the only place to camp in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. This grassy area overlooks Pittwater. It offers lovely surroundings and views.

The Basin Campground is popular for good reason. Great facilities await you here. There is a picnic area and a sheltered beach. An inland lagoon adds to the charm. The campground accommodates up to 350 campers.

Want to reach The Basin Campground? There is no car access directly to the site. Park at West Head Road for a steep 2.8km walk. Alternatively, take a ferry from Palm Beach Wharf. A water taxi or boat are other options.

Once here, pitch your tent in a shady spot. Enjoy a bike ride. Take a swim. Try to spot local swamp wallabies. Kookaburras are often seen too.

The Basin Campground provides many facilities. There are amenities blocks. You will find picnic tables and barbecue facilities. Drinking water is available. Public phones are on site. Showers and toilets are available for use.

Fees apply at The Basin Campground. Park entry is $12 per vehicle per day. Landing fees may also apply. It costs $3 per adult and $2 per child for day visitors. These fees are included in your camping fees.

The Basin Campground is great all year. Spring offers wildflower displays. Visit in August or September. Summer is perfect for camping and fishing. Winter is ideal for whale watching at Barrenjoey Head.

Nearby Beechwood Cottage is historic. It is available for functions. Book Beechwood Cottage in advance. Ice and bait are sold from the campground manager. These are available from 9.45am to 10am and 2.45pm to 3pm. Solar water bags and firewood are also available.

The Basin Campground is family friendly. Please be considerate of others. Noise should be minimal. Noise restrictions apply after 10pm. Underage drinking is not permitted. Offensive behavior results in being asked to leave.

Heat beads are prohibited. Drones are not allowed for recreational use. Gathering firewood is not permitted. Pets are not allowed. NSW national parks are no smoking areas.
