Climbing at Terrace Bouldering offers a unique perspective. You’re practically clinging to the foothills of Table Mountain. Look out over Vredehoek, Oranjezicht, Higgovale, and the city center. This area is known as the CBD, the City Bouldering District. Terrace Bouldering isn’t as densely packed with boulders as Rocklands. But it offers a great workout, no matter your skill level. You can even squeeze in a climb after work, right under Table Mountain’s magnificent amphitheater. Terrace Bouldering is a fantastic addition to any Rocklands bouldering trip. It offers a different climbing experience while you’re enjoying Cape Town’s vibrant city life, beaches, and restaurants. The best time to climb at Terrace Bouldering is year-round. But you need to adjust your climbing time based on the season. During Cape Town’s summer, from mid-December to April, the best time to climb is late afternoon into evening. The city’s heat dome and the setting sun create a spectacular atmosphere for dusk sessions. Avoid mid-morning to afternoon climbs as it can get excessively hot and windy. If you’re climbing in the summer, aim to start around 4:30 pm. The best conditions are when the sun sets over Kloof Nek around 5 pm. You can often climb until 8:30 pm or even later. From May to September, it’s generally cooler. Morning and midday sessions are ideal. Always check the weather apps for the most up-to-date conditions. The wind is usually less during this period. This makes for perfect conditions to tackle those harder problems. Terrace Bouldering has three main areas. These are accessible from five different parking areas. Remember, the boulders at Terrace Bouldering offer a unique urban climbing experience. Combine it with a visit to Rocklands for the ultimate South African bouldering adventure.
