Templo Odsal Ling is located in Cotia. This is a beautiful area only 30 km from Sāo Paulo. The temple’s architecture evokes traditional Tibetan temples. These temples serve as places for retreats and teachings. Elaborate Vajrayana Buddhism ceremonies are also held here. One example is the 100 thousand tsogs ceremony. This ceremony is traditionally held in October.
Now I will tell you a bit about its origins. The temple was founded in Sāo Paulo in 1993. It was founded by H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche. Lama Tsering and her husband Lama Norbu supported the Sāo Paulo sangha. They moved to Brazil after Lama Tsering’s retreat ended in 1995. They helped it to flourish.
The Templo Odsal Ling is especially designed for Buddhist practice. But beginners and visitors are also welcome. It features a beautiful meditation room for quiet contemplation. You will also find a stupa. This is a sacred structure symbolizing enlightenment. Lodgings are available for the team of volunteers who keep the temple running smoothly. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche was a key figure. He founded a network of Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism Centers. Odsal Ling is part of this network. The South American headquarters is Chagdud Gonpa Khadro Ling. It is located in Três Coroas, Rio Grande do Sul.
