In the heart of Temple Terrace, Florida, stands the Temple Terrace First Assembly of God Church. It’s a place where lives are transformed and faith takes flight. But the church we see today wasn’t always here. Temple Terrace First Assembly of God Church, originally known as Faith Assembly of God, has a unique story woven into the fabric of the community. It emerged from the union of two congregations, Glad Tidings Assembly and First Assembly. This merger, approximately seven years prior to 2001, brought together two families of faith under one roof. This union breathed new life into the community, eventually leading to the establishment of the church we know today as Temple Terrace First Assembly of God Church. In 2000, a new chapter began at Temple Terrace First Assembly of God Church. Glenn Hart, a man raised in the heart of Central Florida, became the senior pastor. Hart’s journey to the pulpit began at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He continued his education at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, earning a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. Before coming to Temple Terrace, he served congregations in Bolivar, Missouri and Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Pastor Hart and his wife, Connie, brought their family of four daughters to Temple Terrace First Assembly of God Church. Connie took on the role of overseeing the children’s ministry, known as Power Place. While guiding the spiritual growth of the church, Pastor Hart also pursued his personal passions: golf, fishing, sailing, and flying. In 2001, the church bustled with activity. Sunday mornings began with elective classes at 9:45 a.m. These classes provided deeper dives into scripture and faith. Following the classes, the main worship service filled the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m. A vibrant children’s church program followed the main service. In the evening, the church doors opened again for a 6 p.m. service, welcoming those who couldn’t attend earlier. Wednesday evenings continued the spiritual rhythm with a 7 p.m. service focused on adult Bible study, specifically the Book of Acts. Beyond the regular services, Temple Terrace First Assembly of God Church offered robust programs for children and youth. The Royal Rangers Boy’s Program and Missionettes Girl’s Club provided opportunities for character development and spiritual growth. Around 2001, the congregation numbered about 110 members, a testament to the church’s role in the community. Pastor Hart often preached on relevant topics, such as overcoming emotional wounds and the impact of stress on one’s relationship with God. The message resonated with the congregation, reminding them of the power of faith to heal and restore.
