Ever imagine Taipei transformed by ingenious waterworks? Welcome to the Taipei Water Park. It is more than just a recreational spot. This park is an educational contribution by the Taipei Water Department.

Let’s step back in time. In 1908, during the Japanese era, a water treatment facility was built. This facility ensured the supply of drinking water to Taipei residents. Many Japanese soldiers had died from disease during the occupation of Taiwan. Waterworks drew water from the Xindian River. Then, it purified and stored the water. Infrastructure improvements pumped drinking water to the city. Later, other cities in Taiwan modernized their drinking water systems too.

The facility expanded its capacity in 1952 and 1974. In 1977, the old water drawing station was decommissioned. The area was renovated in 1997. It opened as a museum in 2000.

The Taipei Water Park is housed in a beautiful Baroque-style building. This often attracts couples who take romantic wedding photos here.

In the summertime, many families visit to enjoy the splash pool and water slides.

A fire broke out at the Taipei Water Park in 2016. The 1200 visitors were evacuated. The fire started from a solar panel grid.

You can still see the old water drawing station. Also, observe the water metering station.
