The best time to visit Stubblefield Falls Overlook is early spring. During this time there are no leaves on the trees. This grants better visibility of the cascades. In summer the view is almost completely blocked. But even with limited views, it is still quite nice to visit.
To reach Stubblefield Falls Overlook you have to hike. You have to take the blue-blazed Potomac Heritage Trail. This trail parallels an unmarked trail close to the Potomac River. The unmarked trail meets up with the Potomac Heritage Trail in some spots.
Keep your eyes open. You must cross over a ravine on the left. Then ascend some steps. If you start seeing orange blazes you have missed the turn. Just backtrack to find the blue blazes again.
A short walk from the overlook are modest cascades. You will also find a rocky water crossing. Note that the trail along the river is narrow. It has a steep drop-off. You need to pay attention as you walk.
