“Lust for learning with brain and heart.” That’s the vision that defines Stimmets skola. It’s a place where tradition meets renewal. Welcome to Stimmets skola a cornerstone of education in Tyresö.
Stimmets skola isn’t just a school it’s a vibrant community. About 300 students from preschool class to year 6 learn here. The school’s central location near Tyresö centrum provides access to nature and sports facilities.
Founded in 1961 Stimmets skola initially hosted a single class each of years 1 and 2. Plus it hosted four classes of year 7. The year 7 students moved to the ABN factory after one year. In those early days the fire brigade delivered school lunches. Children ate in their classrooms.
Expansion was rapid. In 1962 “Bikupan” now known as Tumlaren was added. The student population grew throughout the sixties. Stimmets skola expanded again adding “Skeppet” and “Asken”. Today Ankaret and Delfinen after-school programs are located there.
By the autumn of 1971 Stimmets skola had nine parallel first-grade classes. The school fostered early collaboration with after-school programs. “Bikupan” was housed within its facilities.
In 1992 after-school programs were integrated into Stimmets skola. The collaboration between school and after-school programs grew. 1995 saw further construction. Several existing buildings were connected. Six-year-olds moved into the school. Year 6 students moved to secondary school. Today the after-school programs Badstranden, Bläckfisken, Braxen and Sjöhästen are located in these buildings.
Stimmets skola once again welcomed year 6 students from the autumn semester of 2012.
In 2022 a fire severely damaged Stimmets skola’s A-house. The section housed Braxen, Badstranden and Sjöhästen which belonged to Stimmets Anpassad Grundskola a special needs program.
Following the fire students were temporarily relocated. They continued their education in the old Fornuddens skola. In mid-April they returned to Stimmets skola. The students expressed their joy at being back. The fire led to adjustments. Classes borrowed space from the adapted primary school.
Despite the challenges the Stimmets skola community demonstrated resilience. Mellanstadiet students shared their resources with younger students who had lost their belongings. The fire fostered a stronger sense of unity within Stimmets skola.
Today Stimmets skola provides a comprehensive learning environment. It includes after-school activities for preschool through year 3 and a middle school program for years 4-6. All students can enjoy free breakfast before the school day begins.
Stimmets skola provides organised and supervised recess activities. The school uses its grounds and nearby forests and parks. The large schoolyard is used for play, exercise, teaching and recreation.
Inside Stimmets skola learning and development are encouraged. Classrooms are well-equipped. They help students feel prepared for lessons.
At Stimmets skola all students should thrive feel safe and experience the joy of working. The school views each child from a holistic perspective. Good knowledge is as important as social skills.
