Time to step back into history. This place whispers tales of a bygone era. Starrmyran wasn’t always a park. It was once a humble farm.

Starrmyran started as a croft in 1714. It served Farsta farm. Imagine farmers toiling here. They worked hard for their livelihood. The croft stood where Söndagsvägen meets Örbyleden today. This area later became Hökarängen.

For a while, Starrmyran stood empty from 1720 to 1734. Later, life returned. Johan Magnusson Lindström and his wife Anna Persdotter lived here in 1809. Anna lived long after her husband passed. She died here in 1845 as a poor relief recipient. Their son Johan Lindström and his wife Anna Stina Nordström then took over.

Starrmyran became independent in 1875. Sven Johan Svensson and his wife Johanna Nilsdotter bought it from Farsta farm. Sadly, Svensson went bankrupt. Carl August Andersson became the new owner. He lived here with his wife Johanna Lovisa Carlsdotter until 1913. Back then, Starrmyran, Lugnet, and Bergholm were the only buildings in what became Hökarängen.

Starrmyran was a white-plastered cottage. Next to it stood a red cottage from the late 1800s. It was called Starrmyrelund. Three families still lived here in the 1930s. The owner was Gotthard Andersson.

The city decided to demolish Starrmyran in the late 1940s. This made room for new buildings. Gotthard Andersson was so upset that he took his own life. Today, Starrmyran Parkleken Fritidshem commemorates this old croft.

Starrmyran is now a vibrant park. It offers a mix of activities. Think of it as a schoolyard, farm, and after-school club.

Children can enjoy fixed play structures. There is a carousel, a spider web, and a slide. They can also play with bikes and stilts. In winter, there are sleds to borrow.

A stable houses horses, goats, hens, and rabbits. Kids can ride, take animal courses, or just watch the animals. Ponny rides are available. Animal courses teach children how to care for animals.

Indoors, you can find games and toys. This makes Starrmyran a great place to visit all year. You can even buy food here. It is affordable for families.

So, when you explore Starrmyran, remember its past. It is more than just a park. It is a place where history and play intertwine. The spirit of the old croft lives on.
