Star College Bridgetown began as Star International High School in 1999. It was located on Newton Road in Athlone. Mr. Yasar Yesilyurt, Mr. Aydin Inal, and Mr. Ilhami Demirtas were the founders.
Initially, only 16 Grade 8 boys were enrolled. In 2000, Star International Primary School opened. In 2006, both schools moved to Elgin Road in Sybrand Park.
Classes are small here. Qualified educators supervise the students closely. This helps students reach their full potential.
In 2013, the Horizon Educational Trust decided that all its schools should operate under the “STAR COLLEGES” brand. By 2015, Star College Cape Town had two campuses. Star College Sybrand Park became a co-ed pre-primary and primary school. It also housed a girls’ high school. Star College Bridgetown became a co-ed primary school and boys’ high school.
Star College Bridgetown prides itself on academic excellence. The school follows the Department of Education curriculum. Star College aims to achieve excellent results in the National Matric exams. They also target National and International Olympiads. These Olympiads are in Mathematics, Science, and Computer studies.
Star College Bridgetown consistently achieves a 100% pass rate. Many students go on to attend universities. Star College students achieve success in competitions and Olympiads.
Many leaders have guided Star College. Mr. Ercan Ulgur, Mr. Aydin Inal, and Mr. Ilhami Demirtas all served as principals. Mr. Ayhan Cetin, Mr. Mahmut Ozer, and Mr. Okan Erdem also led the school. Erdal Ozkaya also held this position. Currently, Mr. U. Hulusi Patli is the principal at Bridgetown. Mr. Ahmet Kayya leads the Sybrand Park campus.
In 2022, Star College Bridgetown ranked among the best. It secured 10th position in the Western Cape. Nationally, it ranked 15th in South Africa. Star College Bridgetown achieved a 100% pass rate. An impressive 91.67% achieved bachelor passes.
