Founded in 1844 St Peter’s Presbyterian Church in North Sydney boasts a rich history. Its story begins not in grand stone but in a humble wooden structure. This modest building served as the church’s first home a testament to the community’s early devotion. Soon however the congregation outgrew its simple beginnings.

In 1866 a significant milestone was reached. The first stone building opened its doors on the current site at 234 Blues Point Road. The Right Reverend Adam Thomson Moderator of the church presided over the opening ceremony. This Gothic Revival masterpiece designed by the renowned architect Edmund Blacket stands as a symbol of enduring faith. Its hard freestone a local material reflecting a connection to the land.

The church’s spire once soared 80 feet a beacon in the North Sydney skyline. Over the years St Peter’s has seen many additions renovations and alterations. A southern extension in 1881 further expansion of the nave in 1906 and a new slate roof in 1927.
