St Matthew’s also offers a place for quiet reflection and prayer. Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 4 PM to 4:55 PM and on Sundays from 9 AM to 9:45 AM. Or you can make an appointment. The church is alive with various ministries. These include Altar Servers, the Altar Society, and Divine Mercy Prayer Groups. There are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. You’ll find groups for fundraising, knitting, reading, and the Rosary. There’s a Sacristan. There’s a Soup Kitchen. And the St. Vincent de Paul Society is active here. The vibrant tapestry of St Matthew’s extends beyond the regular services. Devotions are an integral part of the spiritual life here. The Rosary is recited at 8:30 AM before each weekday Mass. It’s also said before Saturday Mass from 4 PM to 4:40 PM. The Chaplet of Mercy is prayed before Sunday Mass at 9:45 AM. Devotions to the Sacred Heart are held during the First Friday Mass from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. There is also quiet adoration before the Blessed Sacrament from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on First Fridays. St Matthew’s Cath. Church also nurtures the faith of its younger members. Catechism classes take place on the first and last Saturdays of the month. The Phase 1 Confirmation class is at 9:30 AM with Paul Matthews. Every Sunday, the First Confession class meets at 8:45 AM with Monica Barnett. The Post Communion class is at the same time with Glenda Hendricks. The Phase II Confirmation Class is held on the last Saturday of the month at 10:00 AM with Alanza Abrahams. St Matthew’s also reaches out to the wider community. They provide chaplaincy services to Lilyhaven Senior Citizens and Apricot Place Senior Citizens. St Matthew’s Cath.
