St Joseph’s Catholic Church is located at 30 Anderson Street Goodwood. It has been a place of worship for decades. It’s a testament to the enduring power of faith.
Let’s step back in time. Imagine Goodwood in 1948. The community was growing. A dedicated space for Catholic worship was needed. St Joseph’s Catholic Church was built. It became a beacon of hope.
The church wasn’t just built and forgotten. In 2008 St Joseph’s Catholic Church was dedicated. This marked a renewed commitment to its mission. It solidified its place in the community.
Today St Joseph’s Catholic Church offers multiple services. Saturday evening Mass anticipates Sunday. Sunday Masses occur at 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Weekday Masses are celebrated Monday through Friday at 8:30 AM. During Lent there are also Masses on Wednesdays at 6:00 AM.
Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The church provides various devotions. These include the Novena to the Sacred Heart and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Rosary is recited before all Masses. Special Advent and Lent Novenas are also held.
St Joseph’s Catholic Church is active in faith formation. Catechetics are offered for different age groups. Junior classes are on Saturdays. Confirmation and First Communion classes meet on Sundays. Other classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. There’s even a Friday evening program called Edge.
Several ministries operate within St Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Catholic Women’s League. Men for Christ. Home from Home. These groups foster community and service.
The church also extends its care to those in need. St Joseph’s Catholic Church provides chaplaincy services. These services are for Kendrick House, Protea Home, Libertas Retirement Centre and Jubilee Retirement Home.
Leading St Joseph’s Catholic Church is Father Francesco Fabris. Father Ludwe Jayiya also serves. He is the chaplain to Goodwood Prison.
