Perhaps you have wondered about the man this St. Hubertus church is named after. Let me tell you a story. We are standing before St. Hubertus. It is more than just a building. It is a landmark with a rich history. This church in Cologne carries the name of Saint Hubertus.

St. Hubertus was not always a saint. Legend says he was an avid hunter. One day while hunting in the Ardennes forest, Hubertus had a vision. A glowing crucifix appeared between the antlers of a stag. This vision transformed him. He renounced his worldly life. Hubertus dedicated himself to the church. He became a missionary. Later, he became the Bishop of Liège.

But what does this have to do with Cologne? The story of St. Hubertus resonates far beyond Liège. His feast day is celebrated on November 3rd. Hunters and foresters still honor him as their patron saint. His story represents conversion. It embodies dedication to a higher purpose.

Now, about St. Hubertus Schützenbruderschaft Köln-Bickendorf 1869. This is the Saint Hubertus shooting brotherhood. It was founded in 1869. Dedicated men formed this society. On February 18, 1928, the association was officially registered. It was registered under the name St. Hubertus Schützenbruderschaft Köln-Bickendorf 1869. This happened at the Cologne District Court.

Welcome to this shooting brotherhood. It has a rich tradition. It is also focused on competitive sports in Cologne’s northwest. Since its founding over 150 years ago, the Schützenbruderschaft has combined tradition and modernity. They maintain shooting customs. They celebrate the shooting festival on the fourth weekend of July. It takes place at BiOs Inn. That is the parish center of St. Rochus. They also have a modern shooting range.

The shooting range has electronic Meyton shooting systems. It has fully optical shot measurement. You can practice sports with air rifles and air pistols there. You can use small-bore rifles. You can also use short and long guns. The distances are 25 and 50 meters.

Maybe you are wondering about trying the shooting sports yourself. On Mondays to Thursdays, trial training is available. It takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Frohnhofstrasse 111 in Ossendorf. You can also send them an email. Then you can arrange another appointment for the trial training.

Standing here before St. Hubertus, we connect to a narrative. It is one of transformation and tradition. The church reminds us of St. Hubertus. The shooting brotherhood honors his name. Together, they are part of Cologne’s story. They invite us to reflect on our own paths and passions.
