St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School

Journey back to 1955. St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School first opened its doors. It began as a modest two-story building. It shared space with St. Francis of Assisi Church. The school included a hall, a playground, and twelve classrooms. Imagine the excitement of those first students. St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School has always been more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where faith and education intertwine. The school’s philosophy is rooted in the teachings of Father Horis de Augeus PIME. As a Catholic Diocesan school, Jesus Christ serves as the ultimate role model. His commandments guide the school’s values. St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School is dedicated to developing the whole person. They emphasize five core values: Love, Life, Family, Truth, and Justice. These values permeate every aspect of school life. In 1962, the school expanded. A new five-story building rose beside the playground. This brought the total number of classrooms to 26. It was then that the school officially became St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School. The school embraced the whole-day school policy in 1999. This allowed for a more immersive learning experience. St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School also has a rich history of innovation. In 1995, Former Principal Mr. Leung Wai Choi introduced Gifted Education. This program nurtures students with exceptional talents. The school also made strides in eLearning. In 2012, Former Principal Mr. Lau Wai Ming spearheaded the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) initiative. iPads became integral to daily learning. Even the school song has its own unique story. It was composed in 2005 for the school’s 50th Anniversary by Former Teacher Miss Man Kwan Chi. Before the song, students recited the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi during morning assembly. The school motto, “DOMINUS MEUS, DEUS MEUS (MY LORD AND MY GOD),” was chosen much later, in 2015, for the 60th Anniversary. St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School continues to evolve. It remains committed to providing quality education. The school’s legacy of faith, innovation, and dedication to its students is truly inspiring.
