This isn’t just any church. St Davids Roman Catholic Church stands as a testament to faith resilience and community. It’s a place where generations have found solace and spiritual guidance.
Established on June 8 1919 St Davids began its journey under the leadership of Father Edward J Curran. For three years prior the church building served as a chapel under the wing of St Luke Parish Glenside. Imagine a small wooden structure nestled amongst the burgeoning community. That humble beginning grew. Today St Davids boasts a sizable congregation of over 6000 registered members.
The church has seen its share of change. It witnessed the transformation of a quiet village into a bustling part of Metropolitan Toronto. Construction cranes and workers replaced the peaceful autumn leaves once seen on Keele Street. Yet through it all St Davids remained a constant a beacon of hope in a changing landscape.
One notable chapter involves the creation of Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School. This school was formed from the merger of St David Parish School and Our Lady Help of Christians Parish School. The merging of these two schools resulted in a new school located in the former St David School building. The Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School officially opened its doors in September 2012 welcoming 355 students.
From its humble beginnings to its current status St Davids Roman Catholic Church has been a cornerstone of faith and community. It’s a place of worship education and shared experience.
