In 2014-2015 the student body was diverse. Black students made up about 38%. Hispanic or Latino students were around 36%. White students comprised about 18%. Mixed or multi-racial students accounted for 5%. Asian students were 3%. Native American students were less than 1%.

By 2022-2023 the demographics shifted slightly. Black students increased to nearly 40%. Hispanic or Latino students were almost 38%. White students decreased to nearly 15%. Mixed or multi-racial students were about 5%. Asian students were just over 2%. Native American students remained under 1%.

Spoto High has produced notable alumni. Geronimo Allison played as an NFL wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons.

Mr. Spoto the school’s namesake passed away in 2010. He was a constant presence at the school. He attended events and interacted with students and staff. Spoto High School remembers him fondly. His pride in the school was evident to all.

The school’s phone number is 813-672-5405. Student hours are from 8:40 AM to 3:40 PM. The main office is open from 8:00 AM to 3:50 PM. Spoto High does not require uniforms. There are no before or after-school programs.

Currently student schedules may change. This is due to hiring and class balancing. The school is not accepting additional schedule change requests. Counselors are available to answer questions. Rachel Irvin handles students A-F. Alejandro Zamora supports G-Jom and Collegiate Academy. Chaka Lawton assists Jon-Ra. Denita Lowery is the counselor for Rb-Z.
