Beneath the black and white colors lies a story of passion. Welcome to the home of Sport Clube Corinthians Paulista. Here workers dared to dream of football glory.

In 1910 five railway workers founded Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. They wanted a team for everyone not just the elite. Inspired by London’s Corinthian FC the name was easily chosen. Corinthians became the club of the people.

Their first match was a 1-0 defeat. Yet the spirit of Corinthians was unbroken. In 1913 they joined the Campeonato Paulista. The very next year Corinthians won it. This victory marked their place among Brazil’s best.

The 1920s and 30s saw Corinthians dominate. They claimed nine state championships. Neco became an early star. However the 40s brought a trophy drought. Sao Paulo and Palmeiras overshadowed them.

One of Brazil’s greatest footballers Roberto Rivellino joined in 1965. He played over 200 matches. But even he couldn’t end the trophy drought.

The year 1978 brought Socrates to Corinthians. He became the club’s biggest star. Besides winning championships the team practiced “concentraçao”. They discussed politics showing their activism.

1990 was a turning point. Corinthians won its first Brasileirao title. They defeated Sao Paulo in their own stadium. This marked the beginning of domestic stardom. The trophy room expanded by the century’s end. Two more Brasileirao titles arrived. Also the 1995 Copa do Brasil trophy.

Financial troubles hit the club in the 2000s. A controversial partnership with MSI helped briefly. But in 2007 Corinthians was relegated. It was the first time in club history.

2008 saw a turnaround. Corinthians returned to the First Division. After signing Ronaldo they won the Copa do Brasil in 2009. Then came the Brazilian Championship in 2011. In 2012 they won their first Copa Libertadores. They became Brazil’s most valuable football club. By 2017 two more Brasileirao titles were added.

The Corinthians logo includes a flag and an anchor. The anchor came in 1939. It represented the club’s early nautical sports involvement. The club’s name and founding date are in white letters. They are set inside a black circle.

The Neo Quimica Arena stands proudly. It is Corinthians’ modern stadium. It hosted the 2014 FIFA World Cup opening match.

The “Democracia Corinthiana” movement promoted player involvement in club decisions. This ethos led to winning the 1982 championship. Players influenced team strategy and management.

Legends like Socrates Rivalino and Ronaldo graced Corinthians. Socrates was known for his elegant play and leadership. Rivalino was known for powerful shots. Ronaldo impacted greatly.

The “Fiel” is Corinthians’ loyal fanbase. They number about 30 million. Their passion is unmatched. In 1976 thousands invaded Rio’s Maracana stadium. They supported Corinthians in the Brasileiro semifinal.

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista is more than a club. It is a symbol of resilience. It is a beacon of hope. It’s a testament to the power of football. It unites and inspires. This legacy of Corinthians continues. It inspires future generations of players and fans.
