Children and youth attend Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. They learn through art Bible lessons and mission projects. During the 11 a.m. service children ages 3 to 8 participate in an interactive message. Afterward they enjoy Godly Play with Bible stories. Nursery care is available for the youngest children.
Youth Group for grades 7 to 12 meets on Sunday evenings. They share dinner have discussions and work on mission projects. Contact the Youth Director for more information.
Adults meet on Sunday mornings for their own classes. The content ranges from guest speakers to theological discussions. They sometimes join the children and youth for intergenerational events.
Fellowship is key at Southminster Presbyterian Church. They have Holy Happy Hours and dinner groups. Special events like Christmas parties and summer celebrations bring people together.
Holy Happy Hour happens the third Friday of each month. The Engagement Committee chooses local restaurants. People gather for drinks dinner or just to say hello. Children are welcome and childcare is sometimes offered.
Dine In/Dine Out groups meet quarterly. They share meals in homes or at local restaurants. Groups change each quarter to encourage fellowship with different members.
Southminster Presbyterian Women meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month. They study pray and support the church’s mission. They work for justice peace and an inclusive community. They also host 2nd Saturday breakfasts.
Southminster has teams that lead various ministries and administrative functions. These teams report to the Session or Deacons. The Session governs the local church and the Deacons provide caring service.
The Building and Grounds Team maintains the church’s physical plant. The Christian Education Team encourages growth in Christian values. The Marketing and Communications Team leads internal and external communications. The Finance Team manages the church’s financial assets. The Invitation Team welcomes people into the church. The Nominating Team nominates members for leadership positions. The Personnel Team supports the church in human resources matters. The Stewardship Team encourages giving. The Worship Team plans the worship services. The Mission Team supports various outreach programs. The Compassion & Assistance Team cares for the people of Southminster. The Fellowship Team covers hospitality for social gatherings. The Prayer & Presence Team supports others through listening and prayer.
