Established in 1995, South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB Church has a unique story to tell. It began as a branch of Pacific Grace Mennonite Brethren Church, nestled on East 50th Avenue. Initially known as Pacific Grace Chinese Church (South Side), it was led by Pacific Grace’s senior pastor David Chan and Owen Leung. This vibrant community thrived, worshipping in both Cantonese and English. By 1998, South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB Church gained its independence. It officially joined the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches that same year. Over the years, South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB Church has seen a fluctuation in its membership. In 2001, they had 290 members. This number shifted to 238 in 2004 and rose to 307 in 2010. By 2015, membership stood at 283, with an average attendance of 300. More recently, in 2020, the church had 255 members and an average attendance of 175. South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB Church has also seen a succession of dedicated leaders. Owen Leung served from 1995-1998, followed by Patrick Fung (1999-2005), Matthew Sin (2006-2013), Antony Law (2014-2019), and currently, Charlie Chun, who began his leadership in 2022. The church’s vision is to be a passionate, growing church. They aim to have both language ministries working together harmoniously. Their mission is to follow Jesus’ call to make disciples. They strive to see God worshipped and honored among all nations.
