South Horizons Phase 4 – The Oasis

Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong Island, South Horizons Phase 4 – The Oasis stands as a testament to urban development. South Horizons Phase 4, also known as The Oasis, is part of a larger private housing estate called South Horizons. South Horizons was developed in four phases. This particular phase, The Oasis, comprises seven blocks and adds to the total of 9,812 residential units within the South Horizons estate. Completed in 1995, South Horizons Phase 4 – The Oasis entered a Hong Kong property market buzzing with activity. Its launch was closely watched by analysts, eager to gauge the market’s temperature. Interestingly, a new computer balloting system was used to determine the purchase order for flats in South Horizons. This system, considered fairer than the previous first-come, first-served approach, aimed to eliminate the chaos and triad intimidation that had plagued earlier sales. Imagine the relief of prospective buyers, no longer subject to long queues and potential threats. South Horizons Phase 4 – The Oasis boasts an array of amenities, contributing to the overall appeal of South Horizons. Residents enjoy access to gardens, a harbor-front promenade, a residents’ club, playgrounds, a car park, and a dedicated sports complex. This complex houses both indoor and outdoor facilities. It offers opportunities for squash, table tennis, badminton, snooker, golf practice, and tennis. Adding to the convenience are two shopping centers: Marina Square West and Marina Square East. While providing essential services, these shopping centers have also been a source of contention. In 2014, a dispute arose when the owner of Marina Square West sought to evict small businesses to make way for a high-end shopping outlet geared towards mainland tourists. Over 1,000 South Horizons residents protested this move, demonstrating their preference for local shops catering to their daily needs.
