This temple, located at Pelzgasse 17, stands as a beacon of unity and equality for the Ravidassia community in Vienna. The Shri Guru Ravidass Temple was inaugurated by Sant Niranjan Dass Ji and Amar Shaheed Sant Ramanand Ji. Followers from all over the European Union gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion. The temple quickly became a spiritual hub, hosting major events throughout the year. These events include Ravidass Jayanti, celebrating the birth of Guru Ravidass Ji, and Ambedkar Jayanti, honoring Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s fight for equality. The temple also commemorates the anniversary of its opening every December 25th. A particularly significant event is the Commemoration Day of Amar Shaheed Sant Ramanand Ji. This solemn day, held on the last Sunday of May, remembers his sacrifice. Tragically, on May 25, 2009, an attack during a prayer gathering took the life of Sant Ramanand Ji and injured Sant Niranjan Dass Ji. This event shook the Ravidassia community worldwide. However, the Shri Guru Ravidass Temple and its devotees responded with resilience. They transformed their grief into a renewed commitment to peace and equality, the core teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji. Today, the Shri Guru Ravidass Temple continues to thrive. It serves as a testament to the enduring strength of the Ravidassia community. It is a place where the values of compassion and social justice are not just preached, but lived. The temple continues to work towards two important goals. They aim to register the Ravidassia Dharam in Vienna for official recognition. They also hope to purchase the temple building and land, securing a permanent home for their community.
