He trained in the Shingon school of Esoteric Buddhism at Daigoji Monastery in Kyoto. His wife Tomoji joined him on this path. Together they embarked on a journey that would transform countless lives.
Shinnyo-en’s teachings are rooted in the Nirvana Sutra. This ancient text emphasizes the inherent Buddha nature within each person. Today Shinnyo-en boasts over 850000 followers worldwide.

For instance Shinjo Ito spoke at Radio Vatican. He stressed the idea that religion knows no boundaries. Later Shinnyo-en actively participated in rebuilding a mosque in Pakistan.
