Opened in 1998, Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground has become a vital part of Tsuen Wan’s sporting scene. This impressive venue, located at 21 Shing Mun Road, replaced the old Tsuen Wan Sports Ground. Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground boasts a world-class 8-lane 400m running track. It also features an international standard natural turf soccer pitch, complete with floodlights for evening matches. Two covered spectator stands provide seating for around 5,000 people, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. A modern electronic scoreboard and timing system add to the professional feel. Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground has even hosted home matches for the Hong Kong First Division League club Eastern Salon. Beyond the main track and pitch, the sports ground offers a range of amenities. These include ample changing rooms, restrooms, and a fee-paying car park with 46 spaces. Accessibility is a priority, with features like accessible toilets, tactile guide paths, and Braille directory maps. You can easily reach Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground by various means of transport. From Tai Wo Hau MTR station, Exit B, it’s a pleasant walk through Kwok Shui Road Park and Shing Mun Valley Park. Several bus routes, including KMB numbers 32, 32M, 36, 40P, and 43X, stop at Shek Wai Kok Station, a short distance from the ground. Green minibuses and red minibuses also serve the area. For those driving, access is straightforward from both Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan via well-connected roads. While the sports ground is open most days, it’s worth noting the weekly maintenance day every Monday. There are also periods for summer and winter turf maintenance, typically in early July to early September and mid-December to early January, respectively.
