Shepherd Gate Church

Built in 1986 Shepherd Gate Church stands as a testament to faith and community. This wasn’t always the case. For sixteen years this congregation was a nomadic flock. They held services in schools and business parks. Finally in 2002 they found a home. A modern sanctuary on Pleasant Valley Road in Chantilly Virginia. Imagine the joy the members felt. Their own building on ten acres of land. The sanctuary seats 325 people. The acoustics are exceptional. Pastor Dan Duis didn’t even need a microphone. It sounds like a cathedral choir he said. Shepherd Gate is non-denominational. They emphasize Spirit-filled worship prayer Bible-based teaching and genuine fellowship. The church quickly outgrew its initial capacity. Two services were soon needed. People were walking from surrounding areas. South Riding for example lacked churches. The building is more than a place of worship. It’s a community hub. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts hold meetings there. Pleasant Valley Day is planned for community events. Shepherd Gate also has a vision for children and teens. After-school programs are planned. A safe and wholesome place for kids while parents work. The church building is impressive. It has a large lobby kitchen staff office childcare room bathrooms and even a handicap shower. A two-story enclosed area houses future offices and a nursery. There are plans for a gym and a walking path. Spiritual exercise combined with physical exercise. Shepherd Gate is a special place. A place of worship community and hope. It’s a true reflection of faith in action. The church’s theme is Making Christ known. This is not just words it’s their daily mission.
