Established around 300 years ago by the Man clan, Shek Wu Wai stands as a testament to their resilience. It’s younger than many other Man clan villages in San Tin, offering a unique glimpse into a more recent chapter of their history. In 1911, the village was home to 56 people, with 37 men and 19 women making up the community. More recently, in 2022, a large development project proposed for Shek Wu Wai was rejected. This decision has helped to preserve the character of the area, ensuring that Shek Wu Wai Sitting-out Area remains a serene retreat for visitors. As you sit here, imagine the lives of the villagers over the centuries. They’ve seen tremendous changes, from rural life to modern development. Yet, the spirit of Shek Wu Wai endures.
