The Santa Fe County Fair is usually held the first week in August. It takes place at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds. This fair is a free event. It offers something for everyone.
The Santa Fe County Fair invites everyone to enjoy the festivities. It is fun for the whole family. Mark your calendars for July 31 to August 3, 2024. The fair concludes after the 8 pm dance.
Let’s dive into the schedule. Wednesday, July 31 kicks off with the Goat Show at 10 am. It’s followed by the Lamb Show at 1 pm. Both shows happen at the Show Arena. The Rabbit Showmanship begins at 3 pm in the Small Animal Barn. The Rabbit Show follows.
Thursday, August 1, the Swine Show starts at 9 am. The Poultry Judging follows at 10 am. Both are located in the Show Arena and Small Animal Barn respectively. From 10 am to 7 pm, the Exhibit Hall opens. Here you can see indoor exhibits. The Cattle Show starts at 1 pm in the Show Arena. Poultry Showmanship starts at 3 pm in the Small Animal Barn.
Friday, August 2, the Round Robin Showmanship begins at 9 am. It is located in the Show Arena. The Indoor Exhibits are open from 10 am to 7 pm. At 2:30 pm, the Buyers Reception takes place. The Livestock Auction starts at 4 pm in the Show Arena. Don’t miss the dance at 8 pm.
Saturday, August 3, is full of family activities. From 9 am to 2 pm, check out the Family Car Show. From 9 am to 12 pm, the Dairy Goat Show takes place. The Indoor Exhibits are open from 9 am to 7 pm. From 12 pm to 2 pm, it’s time for the 4-H Dog Show. At 6 pm, large animals are released to go home. The fair concludes with another dance at 8 pm.
The Open Division competition showcases local talent. Santa Fe County residents can exhibit their projects. This includes photography, baking, jams, and fiber arts. You can also find leather-crafting, needlepoint, quilting, metal working, and woodwork. Participants compete for ribbons and “Best in Show.”
