Established in 1946 by the Marist Brothers Saint Bernard’s College stands proudly in Lower Hutt. It’s a Catholic school for boys. Years 7 and 8 were once part of St Bernard’s Intermediate. The school’s motto Respice Stellam Voca Mariam means Look To The Star Call Upon Mary. This reflects the school’s Catholic identity.

The college’s maximum roll is 680 pupils. Currently it offers a wide range of sports. These include athletics basketball cricket rugby and many more. The first XV rugby team plays traditional matches against Hato Paora College Francis Douglas Memorial College and Hutt Valley High School.
Fifteen principals have led Saint Bernard’s College since 1946. From Brother Bernard Fulton to the current principal Simon Stack each has contributed to the school’s legacy. The college also has notable alumni. These include All Blacks rugby players and successful people in various fields.
