The echoes of forgotten hymns still linger here. This is the Sacré Coeur in Prague. More than just a building it holds a century of stories.

Originally a convent and finishing school for wealthy girls the Sacré Coeur was built on the site of a former convent. The foundation stone for the Neo-Gothic church was laid in 1882. The girls learned French. It was quite the exclusive establishment.

After its consecration in 1884 the Sacré Coeur was a place of worship. The remains of Flavia Victoria a Roman martyr were housed in its crypt a gift from Empress Maria Anna. The Beuron artists painted the stunning murals you see on the high ceilings. These frescoes are truly a sight to behold.

Time marched on. The church underwent a restoration at the end of the 20th century returning it to its original splendor. But its purpose changed. Today the Sacré Coeur is deconsecrated. It is no longer a place of religious service. Instead it’s a vibrant events venue.

Imagine elegant wedding receptions. Picture bustling corporate parties. Hear the notes of classical concerts filling the grand space. The Sacré Coeur’s immense height the open courtyard and its unique ambience make it a truly magical space for celebrations. The former altar now serves as a stage.

The Sacré Coeur is approximately 210 meters long 86 meters wide and has a 600 square meter courtyard. There’s even a 300 square meter hallway. It offers free parking and two entrances accommodating many guests.

From a girls’ finishing school to a beloved church to a sought-after events venue. The Sacré Coeur’s story is a testament to its enduring beauty and adaptability. It whispers tales of faith education and celebration. Step inside and feel the echoes of its rich history. A truly unique Prague experience awaits.
