“Non ministrari sed ministrare” or “Not to be served but to serve” This is the motto of the S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School. This principle reflects its dedication to nurturing students. The school aimed to develop well-rounded individuals. It focused on moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual education.
S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School was established in 1965. The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui oversaw the school’s operation. The school was located on Luk Lau Avenue in Wong Tai Sin Kowloon. It was a co-educational school. S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School was a government-aided primary school with a Christian background.
Do you know about the close relationship between S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School and S.K.H. Yat Sau Primary School? The campuses shared facilities. These included the school hall and playground. They were separated by pillars and chains. Students respected the boundaries. Both schools maintained close ties.
S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School aimed to foster continuous learning. It encouraged students to think critically. The school promoted exploration innovation and adaptation.
In 2006 the Sheng Kung Hui established a new company. It was named the Hong Kong Primary Schools Council Limited. This council oversaw 50 primary schools throughout Hong Kong.
In 2015 S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School merged with S.K.H. Yat Sau Primary School. The new school was named S.K.H. St. Benedict’s School. In July 2016 the merged school moved to a new campus. This location was in Kai Ching Estate.
The former site of S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School was planned for redevelopment. The plan was to build a 24-classroom primary school. This would accommodate the relocation of another school. However these plans were put on hold due to redevelopment plans in the area.
S.K.H. Ching Shan Primary School made a significant contribution to education. It served the Wong Tai Sin community for many years. The school emphasized service learning and holistic development. Although it no longer exists as a separate entity its legacy lives on. Its values continue through S.K.H. St. Benedict’s School.
