Gazing at the shimmering surface of Rybník Obora, can you imagine it teeming with life? This isn’t just any pond. Rybník Obora holds a unique story, tucked away in the woods east of Xaverov in Prague. Formed after 1869, Rybník Obora possesses a distinct triangular shape, oriented from northeast to southwest. The water flowing out of Rybník Obora continues its journey through a sluice gate. After a short distance, it merges with the Svépravický stream. It becomes the stream’s first left-side tributary. A woodland path meanders along the northern edge of Rybník Obora, inviting a peaceful stroll. Interestingly, the pond is fed by a stream but also receives treated wastewater from a nearby treatment plant. This unusual combination contributes to the pond’s unique ecosystem.
