Did you know Rozhledna Lhotka wasn’t always a viewpoint? This impressive structure near Lhotka u Berouna began its life in 2006. It wasn’t built just for stunning views. It’s a telecommunications tower for T-Mobile. A clever combination of practicality and pleasure.
Rozhledna Lhotka is more than just a tower. Its hyperboloid supports create a unique silhouette against the sky. The central tube houses the telecommunications equipment. A spiral staircase winds around it leading to the observation deck. This deck sits at a height of 24 meters. The total height of this impressive structure is 45 meters.
The view from the Rozhledna Lhotka is breathtaking. On a clear day you can see Beroun. You can also see the Czech Karst the peaks of the Brdy mountains and the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. On a particularly clear day even Prague’s Ruzyně Airport is visible. Some peaks of the Czech Central Highlands can also be seen to the northeast.
Finding Rozhledna Lhotka is fairly easy. You can drive to a parking area in the saddle below the hilltop. This is near the road from Vráže u Berouna to Lhotka. From the parking area a short path leads to the tower. It’s less than a half kilometer walk through the woods. For those arriving by train the nearest station is in Vráže u Berouna. From there it’s about a 3 kilometer walk along the road to Lhotka.
Construction of Rozhledna Lhotka was completed in 2006. It was officially opened on May 5 2007. Many organizations played a part in its creation. Lesy ČR the Czech Forests the Office for Environmental Protection of the Křivoklátsko PLA and SBM Holding Group s.r.o. all contributed. The Office for Environmental Protection of the Křivoklátsko PLA maintains the lookout tower.
