Here in Stuttgart’s west stands the Rosenau. For over 120 years laughter dance and rapt attention have filled this very space. The Rosenau isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to Stuttgart’s vibrant cultural scene. It’s a place where history and entertainment intertwine.

The Rosenau began its life in 1894. The Bachner Brewery built it as a brewpub. After a few ownership changes it became a local favorite. People gathered for dances and events. It was a true community hub.

After World War II the Rosenau underwent significant renovations. The space was divided into separate restaurant and performance areas. This separation though wasn’t always financially successful. The Rosenau’s evolution continued.

In 1992 Johannes Zeller and Christoph Ulmer took over. They transformed the Rosenau into the celebrated cabaret and performing arts venue it is today. They established its reputation for showcasing both established and up-and-coming artists. Big names like Michael Mittermeier Kaya Yanar and Die Fantastischen Vier all graced the Rosenau stage early in their careers. The Rosenau became known as a launchpad for talent.

However the Rosenau faced challenges. Financial difficulties led to a restructuring in 2009. The cultural programming and the restaurant were separated financially. A non-profit organization Rosenau Kultur e V was formed to secure funding. This ensured the Rosenau’s survival.

Today the Rosenau boasts over 160 events annually. The atmosphere remains intimate. The connection between the artists and audience is palpable. This reflects the spirit of Berlin and Viennese cabaret houses of old. The Rosenau successfully blends cultural and culinary experiences.

The Rosenau’s commitment to fostering new talent is exceptional. The OpenStage nights are legendary. They provide a platform for promising artists. The Rosenau Poetry Slam is another example of this dedication. The Rosenau is more than just a venue. It’s a cultural incubator a place where creativity flourishes.

Many prominent artists performed here first. Rainald Grebe Dr Eckart von Hirschhausen Martina Schwarzmann and many others made their Stuttgart debut at the Rosenau. They now headline larger venues throughout the German-speaking world. The legacy of the Rosenau as a launching pad for success is evident.

The Rosenau stands as a symbol of Stuttgart’s cultural heart. It’s a place that celebrates the past while embracing the future. It’s a vibrant community hub where laughter and art collide. It’s a place you must experience for yourself. The Rosenau. A Stuttgart treasure.
