The first worship service took place on November 18, 1900. It was held on the second floor of Jacob Carr’s store in downtown Rose Hill. Imagine those early days. The Rose Hill United Methodist Church offered their building for the new Baptist group to use on the third Sunday afternoon. This was a generous act of interfaith support.
J.C. Mallard then donated the land. This allowed the church building to be completed in 1903. Picture the small but dedicated congregation. They gathered with hope and determination.
By 1939, the church recognized the need for a new building. A building committee was elected in 1944. Construction began in August 1947. The cornerstone for the present building was set on November 23, 1949. Feel the anticipation and excitement. A new chapter was beginning for Rose Hill Baptist Church.
