It was later moved to the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre, a fitting location given Hansen’s dedication to spinal cord injury research. Sculptor William Koochin immortalized Hansen’s likeness in 1997, marking the tenth anniversary of the Man in Motion World Tour. Koochin aimed to portray Hansen as he appeared during the tour, wheeling 50 to 70 kilometers each day. The statue once stood alongside a mural depicting Hansen’s 792-day journey. The mural, created by Blake Williams, showcased photographs from the tour. The Rick Hansen statue now resides on the east side of the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre.
