Rebuilt from the cherished past, the Rama Theater Tower stands here. It is a striking example of modern architecture. But it also holds echoes of Ramat Gan’s cultural history.
Before us, this residential tower embodies a blend of old and new. The original Rama Cinema stood here. It opened its doors in 1938. For decades, it was a cultural hub. It was where people gathered to watch movies and plays. It even served as a conference center. Imagine the excitement when the governor of the British District attended its opening. The Eretz Israel Symphony Orchestra played too.
The Rama Cinema held a special place in the community. It served not only the Jewish population. The cinema was also important to people from surrounding Arab villages. Every Thursday evening, the Rama featured Arab films. Egyptian films were particularly popular. The adjacent Café Rama was a favorite spot. Artists, film fans, and locals met there. They discussed films and life.
Sadly, the Rama Cinema closed in 1982. For years, it stood vacant. Then, a construction company bought the building. They decided to preserve the Art Deco exterior. They also constructed a residential tower. This is now the Rama Theater Tower. The tower has 96 residential units. They are spread across 23 floors. The first residential floor starts on the sixth floor.
The architects D-BLK designed the Rama Theater Tower. The building includes four basement floors. The total area covers 19000 square meters. Construction also included refurbishment of the historic cinema facade. Construction used a top-down method. The tower was completed in 2016.
The developers wanted to honor the cinema’s legacy. There were plans to decorate the foyer. Film posters and memorabilia from the golden age would be displayed. This would preserve memories of Israeli movie theaters. The nostalgic wall separates the project from the main street.
Living here means being close to everything. The Rama Theater Tower is within walking distance of entertainment. Shopping and business centers are close. The Rama Theater Tower offers luxury apartments. They meet the highest standards. The building stands on the ruins of the old Rama Cinema. This blends nostalgia with modern living. Today the Rama Theater Tower stands as a symbol of Ramat Gan’s evolution. It connects the city’s past and its future. It is a reminder of the power of film. It also is a testament to the enduring spirit of community.
