What if you could build a radio station from scratch? A station built on the passion of its creators and the unwavering support of its listeners? That’s the story of Radio Nowy Świat, right here on Ostra Street. Radio Nowy Świat isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the power of a shared love for quality radio. Born from the ashes of change and driven by the desire for a new kind of listening experience, Radio Nowy Świat launched in July 2020. The station is the brainchild of a group of experienced journalists, many of whom were associated with the iconic Program Trzeci Polskiego Radia. This dedicated team, led by Magda Jethon, envisioned a radio station free from the constraints of traditional broadcasting, a space where music and meaningful discussions could coexist. But they had a unique challenge. They wanted to remain completely independent, free from the influence of advertisers and political pressures. So they turned to the very people who yearned for this kind of radio: the listeners. Through crowdfunding, Radio Nowy Świat managed to raise an astounding amount of money, proving the immense public support for their vision. The station thrives on the generosity of its listeners, who become patrons and contribute to its continued operation. And what do you get in return for your patronage? A treasure trove of curated musical experiences, from jazz to electronica to world music. You get insightful discussions on culture, society, and politics. You become part of a vibrant community that values intelligent, engaging radio.
