“Amar e servir com alegria”. That is the motto that guides the devoted members of Quase Paróquia Nossa Senhora Aparecida. This church is more than just a building. It is a place where faith and community intertwine.
Let’s step back in time to understand its origins. The desire to build a church dedicated to Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Jardim São Paulo emerged from two groups of residents. One group was led by Professor Paulo Ribeiro Noronha. The other was led by Benedita de Santana Carneiro.
These groups joined forces in June 1958. They formed the Associação Nossa Senhora Aparecida do Jardim São Paulo. Paulo Ribeiro Noronha served as the temporary president. Their primary goal was to construct the church. They began raising funds.
In December 1958 the association purchased the land. The cornerstone was laid on November 29, 1958. The Paróquia Nossa Senhora Aparecida Jardim São Paulo was created on April 21 1960. Dom Carlos Carmelo de Vasconcelos Motta was the cardinal who created it. He was the metropolitan archbishop.
The Associação worked hard and quickly built the church. It was inaugurated on August 15 1960. Dom Paulo Rolim Loureiro blessed it and celebrated the first Mass.
For over 60 years this church has been a beacon of faith. It expresses devotion to Nossa Senhora Aparecida. It revisits the beginnings of faith in Jardim São Paulo. The community feels connected to the love Brazilians have for the Mother of Christ.
They are grateful for her care. She encourages and helps them through her intercession and faith. Her maternal presence is deeply woven into the history of the neighborhood.
In the church in the parish and in their families they feel her touch. Countless signs of love grace and mercy come from the Lord. He gave them life and His mother. He loves them until the end. He is with them every day. He gathers them in unity around His and their mother.
