“Ngenteg Linggih” a phrase you might hear whispered on the wind. It signifies a sacred ceremony of consecration. Here before us stands Pura Dalem Banjar Adat Telengis. It is more than just a temple. It is a vibrant testament to Balinese Hindu traditions. This temple is a focal point for the community of Banjar Adat Telengis.
Pura Dalem Banjar Adat Telengis underwent significant renovations. These renovations included the construction of several “palinggih” or shrines. This was followed by the Ngenteg Linggih ceremony. The community celebrated the completion of these sacred enhancements. The event was a grand affair. Dignitaries and locals attended.
I Wayan Kandri was the Head of the Development Committee. He expressed gratitude to the benefactors. These included the Provincial Government of Bali and the Regency Governments of Badung and Tabanan. Their contributions ensured the successful completion of the Pura Ulun Desa. This temple serves 60 families.
The expansion began with purchasing two hectares of land. This cost IDR 130 million. Constructing the “palinggih” required IDR 900 million. Funding came from various sources. The Bali Provincial Government contributed. The Tabanan Regency Government also helped. Badung Regency provided IDR 500 million through BKK assistance. Generous donations from individuals also helped.
Construction commenced in 2017. The Ngenteg Linggih ceremony started in February 2019. It culminated on April 10. The total cost for both the ceremony and construction reached approximately IDR 1 billion. The community covered the remaining expenses. They did so through collective contributions.
I Ketut Suiasa is the Deputy Regent of Badung. He highlighted the “Badung Angelus Bhuana” principle. It means Badung sharing with Bali. This principle has positively impacted Balinese society. It supports Balinese people. It preserves their customs arts and culture. The construction of the temple embodies the commitment. It shows the commitment to preserving Balinese Hindu traditions.
Suiasa commended the Bengkel villagers. They devoted themselves to their religion. They built the temple. They performed the ceremony with genuine sincerity. He expressed hope. He hoped that the community would receive blessings and prosperity. He hoped that the deities residing in the Pura would bless them.
I Komang Sanjaya is the Deputy Regent of Tabanan. He echoed Suiasa’s sentiments. He lauded the Bengkel villagers. They constructed the temple. They conducted the Ngenteg Linggih ceremony harmoniously. He hoped this spirit would endure. He wanted it to inspire future generations.
Tjokorda Artha Ardhana Sukawati also known as Cok Ace. He is the Vice Governor of Bali. He stressed the importance of “yadnya”. It is a shared responsibility. It is a responsibility of Hindus to Hyang Parama Wisesa. This ceremony brings positive energy. It is carried out collectively and sincerely.
Before the communal prayers. Deputy Regent Suiasa symbolically presented a grant. It totaled over IDR 1.3 billion. He also personally donated IDR 5 million. The Head of the Development Committee accepted it directly.
Banjar Adat is more than just a neighborhood. It is a deeply rooted organization. It influences social relations. It also affects religious ceremonies. The Banjar system is key to daily Balinese life. It preserves tradition social order and cultural practices. Each Banjar has its own community hall. It is called a Bale Banjar. This serves as a hub. Meetings cultural events and ceremonies take place here.
Two types of Banjar exist in Bali. These are Banjar Adat and Banjar Dinas. Banjar Adat focuses on cultural and religious affairs. This includes rituals and temple activities. Banjar Dinas manages civil administration. This includes handling village funds. It also ensures adherence to governmental regulations. Both types of Banjar work together. They manage the village’s religious and civil needs.
